Hello!! We are planning our first family DW vacation in November 2014. We are selecting a deluxe dining plan. My question is, do we need to make dinner reservations for every night or can we just "wing it" some nights?

Hi Marcie!  Congratulations of your first Walt Disney World vacation.  It will be such a special memory for years to come.  I happen to love the Disney Dining Plan, I'm so glad you decided to add it on to your vacation.

I highly suggest making dining reservations for your vacation.  Reservations are available to book 180 days in advance and often times fill up rather quickly.  Since you are paying for the dining plan, you will want to get the most out of it value wise.  By making dinner reservation you are guaranteed to have a great dining experience.  I would hate for you to get the dining plan and then be disappointed when you can't get into the restaurant you would really like to eat at.

Some restaurants you may want to consider making reservations at are:
    • 'Ohana at Disney's Polynesian Resort for dinner (my personal favorite)
    • Be Our Guest at Magic Kingdom
    • Tusker House at Animal Kingdom for breakfast
    • Cape May Cafe at Disney's Beach Club for dinner
    • California Grill at Disney's Contemporary Resort
    • Le Cellier Steakhouse at Epcot
    • Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review
    • Yachtsman Steakhouse

There are so many great restaurants on Walt Disney World property, it is impossible to list them all.  I just wanted to give you a list some of my favorites as a place to start researching.  And of course, if you choose to eat a counter service meal it requires no dining reservations.  We like to save our counter service meals for lunchtime so we don't take too much time away from the parks.

If I can help you with your planning or the Disney Dining Plan, please feel free to ask another question.

    Happy eating!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
