Planning our first family Disney vacation. Have kids age 8 & 4. Would like to enjoy in slow pace. How many days min we should plan, what are the best value vacation packages for lodging and dining? what theme parks & water parks to go

    Hi Vini,

I'm THRILLED to hear that you're planning your family's first Walt Disney World Resort vacation! With so many wonderful moments for your family to enjoy together, "The Most Magical Place on Earth" will fill your heart with Disney joy and leave you with a lifetime of special memories!

I wish we could chat over coffee and I could fill you in on all of the wonderful must-dos, but I'll do my best to point you in the right direction, and please feel free to come see us again for more suggestions and tips! First, I'd try to spend at least one day in each of the four theme parks, and if you have time, Epcot and Magic Kingdom Park are large enough that you could easily spend two days at each. One caution, though: there is a LOT of walking during a Disney vacation and I'd advise you to schedule some time throughout your trip to be able to sleep in, enjoy the magic of your Disney Resort hotel, and rest your feet a bit. Overly tired Mouseketeers (of any age!) aren't very magical! Of course, visiting a Disney water park is another great way to enjoy time with your family and experience a whole other kind of Disney fun. If you purchase Park Hopper Plus Option tickets, visits to the water parks (and more!) will also be included.

Since this is your first trip, I'd encourage you to watch some planning videos with your whole family and try to gauge what everyone's must-do experiences are. I've visited the Walt Disney World Resort dozens of times and still haven't done everything, so you'll want to pick and choose, yet also be open to going where the magic leads you. This handy dandy ticket guide could help you decide how to spend your days, and pricing out some various Disney Resort Hotel Packages could help you find the perfect place to stay for your family and budget. Speaking of budgeting, I recently shared some tips on how to stretch your Disney dollars that I hope you also find helpful.

Thanks so much for visiting us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Vini, and I really do hope you'll come back again with more questions. We'd be happy to help you with more specifics on Resort hotels, dining options, FastPass+ selections, etc. I hope all your Disney dreams come true and your family have a truly magical vacation!
