We are planning our first disney world trip for 2013. We can go anytime after March 2013. When is a good time with decent weather and mild crowds? We were leaning towards Oct or Dec. We would like for it to still be warm but not extremely hot. Thanks!

    Hi Elizabeth!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel.

I think any time of the year is a great time to visit Walt Disney World.  However, that said, there are some times that are better than other times depending on what you are looking for.  Some factors include:
    • Weather
    • Expected crowd levels
    • Special Events
    • Park operating hours

In terms of weather, summer is too hot and humid for me.  Between October and December, if you want it to be warm, then I suggest going in October.  That's because in some years it can get cold in December requiring a jacket at night (and maybe even gloves, a hat, and a scarf).

With regards to crowd levels, October and the first two weeks in December are about the same.  The crowds are relatively small when compared to the rest of the year.

Personally, my favorite time of the year to visit Walt Disney World is the first two weeks of December.  The parks and the resorts will be decorated for the holidays and, as I wrote, the crowds are relatively small.  There are also special Christmas related events in the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Disney's Hollywood Studios that put me in the holiday spirit.

However, October is my second favorite time of the  year to visit.  I love the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival that is held in Epcot from late September to early November.  If you love trying out new foods, you will probably love the event.  I also love going to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party which is held on select nights on the Magic Kingdom.  Guests can dress up in costume and go trick or treating; there's also a special parade and a special fireworks show.

I hope this helps.  It's not an easy decision.  Good luck, and please write back with more questions!
