We are planning our first Disney trip! I have two kids, my kids are 5 and 4. I would rather not have my daughter miss any of her school, but the only time they have a long break is the 2nd week in April 2012 and Christmas of course. Is early April busy?

    Hi Julia!

My family and I have the same problem,  because my wife and I don't like to pull the children out of school more than a day or two (at most).  Unfortunately, early April will be extremely crowded based on what's happen in the past.  If you come then, you will definitely want a good plan.  I recommend visiting the independent website TouringPlans.com.  That's the website for the research team behind the book "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World".  There you can look a their famous crowd calendar and get recommendations on which park to visit on which days.  You can also get touring plans that are basically a recommended sequence to experience the attractions such that you minimize your wait in lines.  Their recommendations are based on a lot of math and years of research.  As an engineering, I'm a huge fan of their work!

What works well for my family is taking a 3 day holiday weekend and turning it into 4 days.  We usually fly down the night before the "4 day weekend" (i.e. we leave after school) and then fly back on the last flight back.  It's definitely not a lot of time at Walt Disney World, but it's worked well for us.  The other option, of course, is to visit in the summer time when the children are out of school.  Of course, Florida is infamous for being hot and humid during that time of year!

Good luck with your decision and write back if you have any more questions!
