Planning my first disney trip. What planning is recommended? How may parks are recommended to visit in a 5 day stay? Thaks

    Hi Maria!

Thank you for dropping by planDisney again and requesting advice on how to plan your first trip to the Walt Disney World Resort! I am delighted to help you plan.

With a 5-day trip, I would suggest visiting all four parks and, perhaps, visiting one of the parks twice OR, taking a day of rest and relaxation by the pool topped off by a visit to Disney Springs. If you do not take a full day break from park visits, I do suggest at least one relaxing half day. You could sleep a little later, enjoy breakfast at the resort hotel, enjoy some pool time, do lunch at the resort hotel and then head to a park in the afternoon. Whether you choose a full day of rest or a half day, you will need some rest at the mid-point of your trip.

Review the resort hotels in the Disney Resorts Collection. We adore Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney's Contemporary Resort because they have walking paths to Magic Kingdom. Disney's Art of Animation Resort has family suites that can sleep up to six adults. So, review your options, select a resort hotel, and book a vacation package. Once you book that vacation package, be sure to link it in My Disney Experience. Once linked, you can make Disney Park Pass system reservations. Looking at your anticipated arrival date, however, I am worried that you may not be able to visit all of the theme parks during your visit.

As you plan your visit, check the park hours. If you will have little ones with you, check the height requirements for attractions using the Attractions List - just select each theme park instead of All Parks & Resorts. Once you know which attractions you plan to do in each theme park, check out the Guide Maps for each park to determine your navigational strategy - Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom. We group our attractions as much as possible so that we are not trekking back and forth across a park.

Maria, I sense the need to send you some galactic energy as we prepare to defeat the First Order!

    Magic and memories,
    Donyell
