    Hello there!! We are planning our FIRST Disney trip for October and we are trying to decide on character meals. We are not purchasing a dining plan, so I’m wondering if I pay for the meals when we make the reservations and will I get a refund if canceled?

     Casie, I'm thrilled to hear you're planning your FIRST visit to the Walt Disney World Resort. Oh my gosh, you're going to have the best, most magical time!

     Character Dining Experiences are a must-do for my family. The company of Disney's most beloved characters AND great food, together in the same place? What could be better? There are only a few Character Dining Experiences that require pre-payment, and they are Cinderella's Royal Table and Mickey's Backyard BBQ. If you book one of these experiences and you choose to cancel within the cancellation period, you'll be refunded! The other Character Dining Experiences just require a credit card guarantee upon booking; your account on file will only be charged if you don't cancel the reservation within the location's allocated cancellation period, or if you don't show up to the reservation. 

     My family's most favorite Character Dining Experience is Chef Mickey's at Disney's Contemporary Resort. We have a tradition of visiting this restaurant on the first day of our vacation, and all the pictures we have of our kids there are just priceless!
