We are planning our first Disney trip and looking at January 5-12. Where should we stay? How busy will it be? Our kids will be 5 and 2.5 at the time so any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

    Hi Kristin!

That is a great time to visit Walt Disney World.  The weather will be much cooler that spring or summer, which is kind of nice in my opinion.  Also, the crowds will be low to medium at that time of the year.  With regards to where to stay, it really depends on your needs and your budget.  Disney hotels can be divided into four categories:
    • Disney Deluxe Villas
    • Disney Deluxe Resorts
    • Disney Moderate Resorts
    • Disney Value Resorts

The higher category resort has more services and amenities and usually a better location than a lower category resort.  With young children you should consider staying in a Magic Kingdom monorail resort, giving you easy access to your hotel room for a nap or afternoon break.  However, with young children, you should also consider staying at the new Disney's Art of Animation Resort, which has wonderful theming that young children find fabulous!

Since this is your first time visiting, I suggest picking up the book "The Complete Walt Disney World" by Julie and Mike Neal.  It is a great book for first time visitors as it is full of information, but is not overwhelming.  It is also a beautiful book full of color photographs.  It will give you a good feel of everything there is to do at Walt Disney World.

Our responses are limited in length, but I hope this helps!  Please write back with more questions!
