We are planning our first Disney trip for hopefully sometime later this year (thinking November). We are a family of 4 (kids are 11 & 7). Is the dining plan worth it? We are a family of picky eaters. So we wont want anythign fancy to eat.

    Hi Kim,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! The Disney Dining Plans are one of my favorite topics to discuss!

With food allergies and a diabetic in my family, we often are limited in what we can actually eat from a given menu. Even so, we love the Disney Dining Plan and the Deluxe Dining Plan. There are delicious dining options including "simpler" foods that one of our girls, who prefers meat and potatoes, loves.

My number one reason to purchase a dining plan is that it allows me to have some control over what our overall food expenses will be. Food can be unpredictably expensive at the Walt Disney World Resort, especially when we pass a snack cart in the heat of the day and everybody wants a frozen treat!

If you do not anticipate eating three meals per day, the Disney Dining plan should be a great value for your family. With this plan, each guest 3-years old and over receives two meals (one quick-service and one table-service) plus two snacks per night of stay along with a resort refillable mug. The resort refillable mug is wonderful to use at the resort when we are having a pool day.

To make the best decision for your family, be sure to check the menus at certain restaurants to get an idea of what you might eat. To do so, go to the Dining List, select a restaurant and then click on "view menu." It might sound crazy, but my family always does this. We just want to make sure we can all find something on the menu we can eat. We also love to use our table-service meals for Character Dining. There is nothing quite like dining with Mickey and friends!

With all of our food challenges, it is actually nice to have delicious options that we can all enjoy.

I do hope you have a magical time!
