Hey, Jennifer, and welcome back to planDisney!
I like to start planning my Disney vacations 6 months in advance and agree with Scar from the animated version of Disney's The Lion King and "Be Prepared!"
I have taken a
Disney Private VIP Tour two or three times a year since 2019. There is no doubt that the VIP Viewing area at
Magic Kingdom Park is the best location for nighttime spectaculars. The VIP Viewing Area is in the West Plaza Garden which is the grassy section just in front of
Casey's Corner. There is plenty of open "grass" to relax before
Happily Ever After lights up the sky. There are no chairs provided and most people stand to watch the show. If you want an unobstructed view in the front of the viewing area, I suggest you get there about 30 minutes before the show. Several times we have slipped in at the last minute and found ourselves at the rear of the viewing area and the view is still fabulous, so do not worry about having enough space if you are running a tad late because you wanted to enjoy one more attraction before the show. You are close enough to the
Cinderella Castle to see the projections clearly from every view spot and remember, much of the action is in the sky. Getting there early also allows you some time to get a pretzel, candies nuts, churro, or a Mickey's Premium Ice Cream Bar from the food cart close by; popcorn is at the east side (right side of the castle) food cart.
planDisney Pro Tip: Do not exit the viewing area immediately whether it is to continue with attractions or to leave Magic Kingdom Park. It will be a penguin walk down Main Street, U.S.A., and the paths to the "Lands" that are adjacent to the Plaza. Relax, take some pictures, and leave after 10-15 minutes.
Jennifer, I am so glad you will taking a Disney Private VIP Tour. The hard part after these tours is you will always want to visit Disney theme parks with these amazingly upbeat, knowledgeable guides who have a magic key to move you around the theme parks like Aladdin on a magic carpet.

Enjoy making many Magical Memories.
