We are planning our first Disney Cruise on the Magic in January! I am wondering about the dress code for the semi/formal nights. Is it is a must for boys/men to wear a suit jacket or would a shirt/tie be sufficient? We are not planning to do Palo. Thanks

    Ahoy, Kimberly!

Your adventure out on the high seas awaits! With the way things are zooming by this year, January will be here sooner than you know. You and your buccaneers will be starting off 2015 with such a bang aboard the magnificent Disney Cruise ship.

Your boys will surely look so dapper all dressed up when heading off to dinner. Semi-Formal and Formal nights are evenings that I always look forward to. I'm sure your whole family will look forward to enjoying dinners at all the main dining rooms. You'll notice how whimsical and elegant the main restaurants are. The creative geniuses who designed these spaces did an awesome job. My kids don't usually get all dressed up and fancy, but whenever we're on the Disney Cruise, the elegance just seems to work. My son used to be apprehensive about getting all dressed in long pants and long sleeve shirts. But he definitely enjoys it now - especially since he's a Dr. Who fan and that bow tie came into the picture. :-)

If you think packing a jacket for your boys will be too much and you might run out of luggage space, then don't sweat it. The boys will be just fine wearing a nice shirt and a tie. The jacket would be great to have for Dad, though... just in case Mom is all glammed up -- he needs to step it up! If you end up taking some photos at the lobby in the evenings, the Disney professional photographers will be setting up their signature Disney Cruise Line backgrounds for family and solo photographs. Dress up night would be a great time to take those photos... this could be a nice souvenir that could be framed or shared with friends and family.

Go ahead and plan those great outfits, Kimberly. Let us know if you have any other questions... we're always glad to help!
