Planning our first Disney cruise, and looking at the oceaneer club for my daughter, who’s 5. Does she have to stay all day, or can I pick her up after an hour? Would like to have flexibility as we are traveling with her grandparents who want time w her

Ahoy, Pamela! Welcome to planDisney. I'm happy that you cruised our way as you prepare for your first ever Disney Cruise!

I'm so excited for you to experience all of the fun and adventure that's waiting for you and your family on board. One very unique aspect of cruising with Mickey and the gang is the access to the incredible exclusive spaces, just for kids! My children have really enjoyed Disney's Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab. From princesses to galaxies far far away, there are some very fun adventures waiting for children onboard. I'm happy to share that your daughter does not have to stay all day. You can check your daughter into the youth clubs for a short period of time if that works best for you. The flexible nature of the youth spaces will allow your family to have a vacation that's tailored for your sailing crew.

One thing I recommend is for your whole family to visit the youth clubs during a scheduled Open House time. Check the schedule for Open Houses using the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once you are onboard the ship. The Open Houses allow for the entire family to come and play in the engaging atmosphere, and can be a great opportunity to introduce these spaces to your child for the first time.

If you are looking for more activities that your family can enjoy together, keep an eye out for the entertainment offerings in the D Lounge. There are usually some interactive games that appeal to a wide variety of ages. My family has shared a lot of laughs there.

A Disney Cruise vacation is a great setting for a multigenerational gathering. With something for everyone to enjoy, I know it will be a good time! Please sail back to us, Pamela, if you have any more questions. My pals and I are always happy to help plan magical vacations and I wish that yours is as magical as can be!

    Happy Sailing,

    Adrianna
