Hi Meghan!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you so much for stopping by with your question about your upcoming Disney Cruise Line vacation. I am so excited that your family is in the middle of planning your FIRST (of hopefully many!) Disney Cruises!
My young boys love the
Oceaneer Club and Lab, but it hasn’t always been that way. It took some time for them to get used to the idea of being in there, but once they did – well, now I can’t ever get them to leave!! In order to reduce some hesitation, I would suggest talking it up with them as your cruise approaches – casually discuss that there are scheduled activities they may want to participate in, but also the opportunity for free play and doing their own thing. There are art supplies, books, games, puzzles, movies…and so much more! They also have scheduled activities such as “Everyone Can Cook”, organized games and scavenger hunts. Also, on embarkation day (and throughout your time onboard), there are scheduled Open House times where you can visit the Youth Clubs with your girls! Check your Personal Navigator or the
Navigator app for the scheduled Open House hours and then during that time, try to find a Youth Counselor and introduce them to your girls. The Counselors are incredible and will help ease them into finding an activity that they will enjoy!
Additionally, since both are over 8 years old, they can check themselves in and out of the clubs. So, if you grant permission for them to do so, then maybe they will feel a little more comfortable if they know they can leave if they choose to.
Wishing you and your family a magical and memorable adventure at sea!
Happy Sailing!
Stephanie
