We are planning on going on our first cruise in may of 2016. At that time my son will be 3.5 and should be potty trained. But I am worried he might be playing to much to go potty on his own. Can I put him in pull ups in the kids area?

    Ahoy, Jennifer!

Congratulations for booking your first Disney Cruise Line vacation! Hopefully it will be the first of many, after you experience the magic and wonder of a voyage with Captain Mickey!

I'm so happy to hear you're planning to take advantage of the amazing Youth Clubs on the ship. The Youth Counselors are great - making sure that every little cruiser is happy and engaged while in their care. I've never worried for a second when our kids are in the clubs - I know they're having the time of their lives!

As for your question about potty training - children visiting the Oceaneer Club are required to be fully potty trained, as the counselors do not assist with bathroom visits. There are child-sized potties available for them to use. In the event of a potty accident, parents will be paged on their Wave Phone, and asked to come pick up their child.  Wave Phones are provided in each stateroom, and allow guests to text and call with their travel party while on the ship.

The good news is, you have more than a year to get his potty training perfected! What a fantastic end goal - a Disney Cruise!

I encourage you to visit the Oceaneer Club on your first afternoon onboard, during Open House hours. You'll get an overview of all the fun things they have planned during your sailing, and you can make sure to make note of any "must-dos" for your son!

I hope this helps with your planning - please come back with any questions as you prepare for your magical vacation! - Diane W.
