Hello! Planning a Feb 2020 trip and thinking we might add water parks. Will they be open in February, or closed for refurbishment? When can we expect to see some packages to book? Not sure if we will buy separate ticket or hopper plus yet... Thank

    Hello L,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us a question, my fellow Canadian!

I consider the Disney Water Parks to really be the hidden gems of Walt Disney World Resort. My son begs me to spend at least one day at either Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park or Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park at least once during every trip. Even if you visit during the winter months, typically at least one of the two water parks will be in operation. We don’t have next year’s refurbishment schedule yet, but unless it’s unseasonably cold in February (the Water Parks can close due to cold or inclement weather), you should be good to go for some splashtacular fun during your visit.

Because of that, I’d recommend adding the Park Hopper Plus option to your Theme Park Ticket instead of buying just a single day’s worth of admission to the Water Park of your choice because the cost difference between a single day at the Water Parks and the Park Hopper Plus option is likely to be relatively small, even in 2020. Don’t forget that the “plus” can also be used for other activities such as mini golf at Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf Course or Winter Summerland Miniature Golf, so it’s a really great deal.

Speaking of 2020, we don’t yet know when Disney Resort Hotel Packages will be available to book. From what I remember in previous years, the rates and ability to make reservations for the following year have typically popped up in mid-to-late June, and sometimes even only in July. My advice to you would be to keep checking the Disney Parks Blog for up-to-the-minute information about when you’ll be able to book your 2020 vacation.

Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions!

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
