we are planning a feb 2013 birthday trip for our daughter. staying at pop and hoping for a free dining plan. she is an eater. she is 9 years old. a kids plate will not be enough. is she able to chose from the adult menu or is it stickly kids?

    Hi Diana,
I love that you are planning your daughter's 9th birthday at Walt Disney World.  When you check in, let the Cast Member know that it is her birthday because sometimes balloons and a card from her favorite character will be delivered to your room.  Also, when you arrive at one of the theme parks, head to Guest Relations and ask for a "Happy Birthday" button so that other Cast Members and guest can help you celebrate.  Disney Floral & Gifts have several wonderful gifts for any occasion, but especially birthdays. These presents are amazing!
The Disney Dining Plan is a wonderful option for your family.  You daughter will have to order off the children's menu and cannot order an adult portion.  I would suggest using your Table Service Meals at restaurants that are buffets.   1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian has a dinner buffet where you can meet Cinderella and Prince Charming as well as the Fairy Godmother.  The Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom is where you can meet Pooh and his friends from the Hundred Acre Woods for a buffet for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.  The Biergarten in the Germany Pavilion at Epcot is a fantastic buffet with German entertainment.  Liberty Tree Tavern has family style dining similar to a Thanksgiving Feast!  These are only a few examples of the buffets my family loves and I think this will be your best bet if you don't feel that the children's portions will be enough for your birthday girl.  Please send me a follow up question, Diana, if I can help you further.
