When planning fast passes and thinking about parent swap, do I need a fast past for the one that I am swapping with? For instance if my daughter and husband go on a ride and get a swap, for me and my son, do I also need to use a fast pass?

Hi there, Lynn! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

You will love Walt Disney World Resort's Rider Switch Service! With two little ones myself, I use it every visit so my husband and I never miss out on any of our favorite, more thrilling rides.

Here's how Rider Switch works: you will go to the attraction's entrance that offers Rider Switch, let the Cast Members know you wish to use Rider Switch and show that you have a child who doesn't meet the height requirement or a Guest that doesn't wish to ride the attraction. Then, those in your party riding first can either enter the Stand By line, or if they have a FastPass+ for that ride, they can go through the FastPass+ line. Once the first group has completed their adventure, they will then give the next group in your party the paper Rider Switch pass. In my experience, this pass entitles up to three Guests to enter the FastPass+ line for the attraction. No additional FastPass+ is needed for the second group because the Rider Switch pass acts as the FastPass+ for that group.

When I am waiting for my husband to ride an attraction, I always find that there are a lot of things for me to do with our kids while we wait. Whether we ride a nearby attraction that is preschooler-friendly, grab a snack in a shaded spot or browse the stores, we always keep busy and have lots of fun!

Enjoy planning your trip, Lynn, and feel free to visit us again with any other questions you may have!
