We are planning our family's 1st trip to Disney. Recently had breast cancer and treatment. This is a family healing trip. I am a disabled Veteran. What is the best way to get discounts for veteran status? Have a family of 5. Kids 14, 12, and 10.

    Hi Christina,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and on behalf of all my fellow panelists, thank you for your service. I’m sorry to hear about your battle with breast cancer, and am very happy to hear you are recovering. I can’t think of a better place than Walt Disney World for your family to come together, heal, and share fun and magical moments.

My military family is very grateful to Walt Disney World for the fantastic discounts they offer active and retired service members. Christina, because there are so many categories for veterans, and I don't know exactly what military ID you have, I can't guarantee which discounts you are eligible for. I recommend calling the staff at Shades of Green, which is a military resort located at Walt Disney World, and asking about discounts offered based on your eligibility. They are truly wonderful and so, so helpful, and can be reached at (407) 824-3400.

To inquire about pricing and to book military discounted resort rooms at Walt Disney World Resort, call (407) 939-5684. Eligible military personnel may purchase discounted theme park tickets. The tickets can be purchased at your local base or in person at Shades of Green. Please note that the pricing changes from year to year, so current pricing is subject to change. There is also a great discount on Memory Maker for eligible military members, which gives you access to your theme park photos. Those details are at the bottom of the theme park discount ticket web page.

I hope this gets you off to a good start, Christina. Please come back and see us if you have any further questions as you begin to plan your family’s first Disney trip!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
