Hello! We are planning our family's third trip to WDW. This will be the first time that we take advantage of the Dining Plan. Does the Dining Plan cover the cost of the Character Dining Experience?

Yes,  however a Character dining experience will require at least one table service meal.  Cinderella's Royal Table will require two Table service meals. Our family always purchases the Deluxe Dining Plan because the kids wanted to go to oodles of character meals or dinner shows.  The extra table service meals came in handy when we were going to multiple character meals in a day.   Have a great trip!!!
