Hi! I am planning our family's next cruise. Our first cruise was on the Disney Fantasy to the Caribbean. do you know the sizes of each ship in comparison? Which ship do you prefer? And does the ship size create a different experience?

    Hi there, Kekapahaukea!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  I am so excited to hEAR you had a FANTAStic Disney Cruise Line vacation and are ready to set sail with Captain Mickey again!  I always warn friends that their first Disney Cruise Line vacation will certainly not be their last!!  With so many unique itineraries and (currently) four Disney Cruise Line ships to explore, you can have a completely different experience each time you embark!

Currently Disney Cruise Line has four ships – and I can say that they are equally as amazing!  The Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder are considered to be “Classic” ships and are smaller than the Disney Fantasy and the Disney Dream, but you will still find the same Disney Cruise Line magic, excitement and experience onboard any of them!  One of the main differences that I like to point out are the itineraries that the different ships currently embark on.  The two larger ships currently only depart from Port Canaveral and visit the Caribbean and the Bahamas, mainly.  The smaller ships do have some different itineraries that are worth looking into – in the summer months, the Disney Wonder can be found exploring Alaska and the Disney Magic is sailing through Europe!  Those itineraries would certainly give you a different experience than you would find cruising in the Caribbean or Bahamas, so if you are looking for something unique and different, you may want to look ahead to those voyages.

If you step foot onboard a smaller ship, you will likely notice the size difference, but definitely not in a bad way!  My family has been fortunate to set sail on all four ships and while we certainly have made magical memories on all, we tend to find ourselves onboard the “Classic” ships most frequently!  In talking to Guests over the years, it’s interesting to discuss everyone’s “favorite” ship…and often it happens to be the very first ship they sailed on – and that rings true for my family!  So, perhaps have exploring another ship you will feel the same...or, you'll find a new favorite!

I hope this information is helpful in planning your NEXT Disney Cruise Line vacation!  No matter which ship – or itinerary – you choose, I am pretty sure you won’t be disappointed!

    Happy Sailing!
    Stephanie
