I am planning my family's first WDW vacation in August 2014. My daughter is 12, and my son is 6. We are trying to decide between Port Orleans Riverside, and Coronado Springs, and would appreciate some feedback on the two. Thank-you!

    Jennifer:

I honestly think you'll have a winner with either resort but Port Orleans Riverside has a slight leg up, especially with children.

To me, although Coronado Springs has the much better food court with fresher offerings and more contemporary furnishings in its rooms, the theming at POR is more unique for your children who live outside of the South. And even though both resorts have pools that your children will enjoy, including slides, POR's "river" and boat ride to Downtown Disney makes it slightly more magical for the age of your children. If you have the budget, request one of the Royal Rooms with a River View. The beds sport headboards with "magical" fireworks displays and the bedding and window dressings provide quite a plush environment.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
