Hey, howdy, hey, Amanda! Welcome to planDisney! My Panelist pals and I are here and always happy to help our fellow Guests, just like you! It sounds like you're planning an amazing vacation, and I'm so glad you've found us here!
Amanda, planning your first Walt Disney World Resort vacation is one of the most exciting things you can do. It's a journey that will feel easy at times and complicated at others. There are lots of decisions to make, and there's so much you can do! Let me start off by saying, it's difficult to make a bad decision at the Most Magical Place on Earth. You'll find things to do, see, and taste at every turn, and I encourage you to take it all in as much as you can. You don't have to do (and frankly, won't have time to do) every single thing, and that's ok! There's a reason why my family returns year after year - we hit up our favorites and make a point to try something new during each visit. Happily, there are endless resources you can, and should, check out online, including lots of
videos, podcasts, and guides created by the team here at planDisney!
Back to your question - you're going to love staying at
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. At this time, the walking path from Disney's Polynesian Village Resort to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is not open due to construction. Thankfully, you have other great options, like the
Monorail and a
boat! Getting to Magic Kingdom Park is a breeze on the Monorail. You'll go through the security checkpoint at the hotel, rather than at Park Entry. There are few things more magical than getting that first glimpse of Cinderella Castle as you're arriving on the Monorail! If you'd like to enjoy the breeze and gentle rocking of water transportation, head down to the dock and board the next available boat to Magic Kingdom Park. If you're hoping to get there quickly, the Monorail might be your best bet (and would likely be faster than walking, if that were an option). At this time, there is not a way to walk from Disney's Wilderness Lodge to the Polynesian. A fun way to make this journey would be taking a boat from Wilderness Lodge to Magic Kingdom, then hopping on the Monorail to the Polynesian!
Amanda, be sure to get familiar with the
My Disney Experience Mobile App prior to your arrival. It's like having magic in your pocket! My favorite feature is the map - you can filter by dining, Characters, attractions, and more. You'll see wait times and you can even get detailed directions to your next destination. It'll be where you plan your days, place Mobile Food & Beverage Orders, see your PhotoPass Gallery, and check on your Resort hotel charges.
I hope you have the very best time during your vacation! Please stop back by planDisney with any other questions you have - I'd love to continue to help you plan your first visit!
See you real soon!
