HI, we are planning a family vacation to WDW, and we are looking for a calendar that shows the busy weeks and the off weeks for Disney. A couple of years ago when we went to WDW for my daughter's 4th birthday we had found such a calendar. Can anyone help?

    Sara:

I just answered a question that sent a reader to www.touringplans.com--the place where you probably saw what they call the "Crowd Calendar."  I promise I don't get paid by them to recommend their site, however, when I see a website as good as theirs, it's just like recommending a good restaurant, it's hard to resist letting folks know about it!

The Crowd Calendar that the website publishes for general use is visible for 30 days out. If you want to view the calendar for the next 365 days, you'll have to pay a $10.95 subscription online.  A few years ago, you could access the calendar if you bought "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World"--which I did, so I could get the most of the site.  But they've done away with that option.  I still buy both the book and a site subscription now that I'm on the Mom's Panel.  And truthfully, would probably still do so even if I wasn't on the panel.  Its dozens of touring plans of the park, along with the crowd calendar, pay for themselves with the sanity gained from better managing the crowds at the parks.

But if you don't want to visit the site, follow the money. The money at Disney, that is. When they reduce their hotel rates, you can guarantee lower crowds because it's simply the law of supply and demand in effect.  Value Season is from mid-January to mid-February, mid-August through September and early November through mid-December.  You'll do best if you'll travel to WDW the week AFTER a holiday like New Year's, Labor Day or Thanksgiving for what I've found to be the lowest crowds of the year.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
