We are planning a family vacation towards the end of January. One of my son's has a severe life threatening dairy allergy. What and how is the easiest way to make sure his dietary needs are addressed for his safety?

    Hi Chana,

Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

My daughter has a tree nut allergy, so we are very familiar your concerns. Walt Disney World is very accommodating for those with food allergies, which is one of the many reasons we enjoy traveling there so frequently.

At table service restaurants, you are able to add a note about the allergy with your reservation. If you didn't do that, or just walk up to a restaurant, you can let the host know about the allergy. Your server will send over the chef to go through the menu with you.

At counter service restaurants, you can ask to see the ingredients, or ask to speak to a manager/chef about which foods are safe. Many of the restaurants are now offering allergy-friendly menus that specifically show which foods are okay for each common type of food allergy. You can read more about the allergy-friendly menus on the Disney Parks Blog

The key is communicating the specific allergy to a chef or manager, especially for such a serious allergy.

    Have a great vacation!
