Hey, Tonja and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Ringing in the
new year at Walt Disney World Resort was a highlight of my 2018. What should you expect based on last year? Fireworks, dance parties, tasty treats and delicious drinks, and a lot of Mouseketeers ready to party.
I suggest getting to
Magic Kingdom Park early on December 31, 2019, to beat the traffic and
rent a locker for your items. Last year the theme park was closed from around 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM to additional Guests. Magic Kingdom Park hosted several dance parties in Frontierland and Tomorrowland so that kids of all ages could party. Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade (12:00 PM and 3:30 PM) and Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks (6:30 PM/11:50 PM) entertained Guests twice with an early and late showing. Complimentary party favors such as paper top hats and noisemakers were handed out to everyone. It was so cute seeing all the kids blowing their noisemakers and yelling, "Happy New Year!" We are early in the year and should expect to hear more about the 2019/2020 New Year’s Eve events in the fall. I suggest checking in on the New Year’s Eve activities in early fall and subscribing to the
Disney Parks Blog to stay updated. On January 2, 2020, make sure to explore the Black Spire Outpost on the Wild Space planet Batuu at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.
Disney Dad Tip: If you want a more relaxed experience and/or traveling with little ones while in Magic Kingdom Park, then view the fireworks on December 30 (two shows) and see the early parade on December 31.
Tonja, enjoy making many Magical Memories.
