Hi Susan, and welcome to planDisney! I have so many magical memories from vacationing at Disney World with my big extended family. So I’d be honored to help with your trip next year! When my family is deciding which
Disney resort hotel to choose, there are a few factors we consider.
First is budget. Disney has many different options in a wide range of price points. When we’re looking to save money, we usually go with one of the Value Resort Hotels, like
All-Star Sports. No matter which Disney resort hotel you pick, you’ll get access to lots of perks like
Early Theme Park Entry and
complimentary transportation to the theme parks (we love leaving the driving to Disney!).
Second is location. If we’re planning to spend a lot of time at Magic Kingdom, we might choose a nearby resort hotel, like the
Contemporary or
Wilderness Lodge (this is one of my family’s favorites because we love the relaxing Pacific Northwest vibes!). Being close makes it easier to go back for a midday nap or pool break (this is especially important for littles or older members of the family).
Third is room type. When I’m traveling with my extended family, it can be nice to have more space than a standard hotel room.
Art of Animation Resort and
All-Star Music Resort both have Family Suites that sleep up to six adults with a separate bedroom, two bathrooms, and a living room. My family also likes to book the 2 Bedroom Villas at
Deluxe Villa Resorts. These villas have two bedrooms, two to three bathrooms, a living room, a full kitchen, and even a washer and dryer. There are also 3 Bedroom Grand Villas that sleep up to 12 adults (depending on the resort).
Fourth is theming, which is one of my favorite things about staying at a Disney resort hotel. Each one has its own unique theme, from the tropical vibes at
Caribbean Beach Resort (complete with hammocks!) to spotting zebras from your balcony at
Animal Kingdom Lodge. Disney magic doesn’t stop when you leave the theme parks for the day!
You can compare and price out the different Disney resort hotels on the Disney World website. I’d also recommend checking out
planDisney’s resort guides on the Disney Parks YouTube channel, where you can join us in exploring the resort hotels at Disney World! There are a few on there now, with plans to add more resorts in the coming months.
And when you’ve made your choice, you can book a standalone room or vacation package (that includes theme park tickets and/or the
Disney Dining Plan) on the Disney World website or call the
Tickets and Hotel Reservations phone number to book multiple rooms at one time.
I’m wishing your ‘ohana a magical vacation next year! And if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to visit us again at planDisney.
