Hi we are planning a family trip the week of Thanksgiving, 6 adults and 11 kids ages 17-2 There are 3 family's and we are trying to decide on the resort to stay at. Do you have any suggestions? 2 families 1st visit. Thanks

    Hi Tiffany,

Vacationing with extended families and friends can be so much fun! Where your group can stay is going to depend on how you can break the 17 guests into smaller groups. There is not an accommodation at Walt Disney World where all 17 of you would be in one accommodation, so you will need to split up. Also, know that one child under three years old will not count toward the total number of people in a room. So, for example, if one family has two adults and three children, but one of the children is 2 years old, that family could still stay in a room meant for four people.

You might first want to look into Disney Vacation Club properties.Three-bedroom villas can accommodate up to 12 guests. If you had one of those, plus a two-bedroom villa which accommodates eight or nine guests, that would cover your party. You could do this at Disney's Old Key West Resort, Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas, Disney's BoardWalk Villas, and Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa.

Another option is to go with three suites which can sleep up to six guests plus a child under three in each. Walt Disney World Resort offers such suites at Disney's Art of Animation resort, as well as at Disney's All-Star Music Resort. A final (and in my opinion really fun!) option would be to get three Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. These also sleep up to 6 guests plus one child under three years old.

To book any of these accommodations, call 407-W-DISNEY (407-934-7639). Please note that the Disney Vacation Club villas might be more difficult to book as many of them are reserved by Disney Vacation Club members using Vacation Points; however, there are some available for booking with traditional payment methods.

I would love to help you plan your magical vacation further; Tiffany, however, I am limited in the space that I have to answer. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
