Hi, we are planning our 1st family trip to Walt Disney World for June 2014. It is my husband, our 10 yr old daughter and 8 yr old son & I. In planning our days what is a fair estimate of time needed for each park? Is a day a piece enough time?

    Hello Neighbor!

Hi Jamie, I'm from the Show-Me state too.  Congratulations on your first visit to Walt Disney World!  You are going to be amazed at how much fun and bonding time you are going to have with your family.

For a family's first visit, ideally I recommend staying 5-7 days.  For my vacation style, since I spend a great deal of time and resources packing and transporting my family to this amazing destination I want to maximize our fun once we get there.  Consequently I'm a big fan of longer vacations.

You could literally spend a solid month at Walt Disney World and STILL not see everything that there is to experience.  One day per park will let your family have an amazing vacation certainly, but repeating your favorite park(s) will allow you to do more attractions and exploring.  It's just not possible to do it all in one vacation anyway.  That's probably why my family loves to come back each year ~ we have our old favorites, plus something new to explore each vacation.

Of course if you are like me, sometimes our family's schedule dictates how long we stay.  We have vacationed at Walt Disney World for as few as 3 days and as long as 10 days.  I prefer the longer stays personally since we tend to relax more and are more laid-back.  However don't feel pressure if the time or budget you have is for a 4 day stay (assuming you are only talking about the major theme parks and not the water parks), you are sure to have a fantastic Pixie Dusted time.

I hope you vacation is MAGICAL in every way!  If you have any further questions, please come back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel for all of your vacation planning.

    Blessings,
    Brenda ºOº
