Hi. We are planning a family trip for November 2018. How are the crowds during Thanksgiving week? Also is there somewhere to have Thanksgiving dinner? Thanks, Lisa

    Hi Lisa!

For years my family has chosen the Thanksgiving week for a Disney vacation. It is one of the easiest holiday's to grab the kiddos out of school and extend vacation for a nice week versus long weekend. However, with that perk comes crowds as other families will also be doing the same thing.

My advice is to plan well and get dining exactly at the 180 day window. Once you have done that make sure you have your tickets all linked to your My Disney Experience accounts. If you are a resort guest you will be able to Book your FastPasses 60 days from your arrival so be sure and mark that date on your calendar as well. You can begin booking them at 7am eastern time and you will want to be on top of that to get all of your first choices and times.

Most of the Disney restaurants will also offer a traditional Thanksgiving dinner or buffet. Last year we dined at the Captains Grill in the Yacht Club resort and it was awesome. Disney understands that their guests need their turkey fix on this one special holiday each year and they make it possible to find great dining at many locations.

Thanksgiving is a great week as the day after Thanksgiving you will suddenly see everything Christmas and can enjoy welcoming in the next big date of the year. Actually the Christmas party begins mid November in the Magic Kingdom so some of the parks will already be in holiday decor. If you choose this time just be sure and plan, plan, plan and be ready to make decisions on the dates you are able to book different things such as dining and FastPasses. Have a great time!
