Hello! Planning a family trip in Nov of 2022, hoping to secure a 2bd room villa at Riviera, however even with the one time purchase of points (24) added to our points, I will literally be one (1) point short, is there anything we can do?

    "Welcome home," Kathern!

I'm so glad you stopped by planDisney with your question. As a fellow Disney Vacation Club Member who just purchased some One-Time-Use Points to complete a reservation, this question called to me like the sea calls to Moana!

Kathern, while I don't have Fairy Godmother's wand or Tinker Bell's pixie dust to Magically remove the obstacle, I do have a few ideas that might help!

Assuming that you don't have any family members or friends who are Disney Vacation Club Members and would be willing to gift you a point via transfer, I would encourage you to call into Member Services and inquire about the price of one night in the 2-Bedroom Villa at Disney's Riviera Resort if you were to pay cash. Sometimes Members can score special cash rates (pending availability). When my family and I stayed at Disney's Riviera Resort last summer, my mom traveled with us and I was able to book her a discounted Tower Studio through my Membership. Just this past week I called in to ask about cash specials for spring 2022 and was given a great price for the Treehouse Villas

If you'd like to only use Vacation Points to book your trip, my other idea would be to consider a "split stay" at a resort where the points charts are lower. For example, if you're planning to visit Disney's Animal Kingdom, a night at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas- Jambo House or Kidani Village, might be a great (and convenient) start to your vacation. If you love Disney Springs and are planning to visit on your check-out day (like my family does), why not spend your last night at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa? From the Congress Park section you can walk to Disney Springs.

Finally, Kathern, if neither of these options are appealing, my final thought would be to consider paying for (a few rooms) your first night at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. This resort is only a stroll away from Disney's Riviera Resort (actually on our last trip, we walked over to Banana Cabana for lunch) and has the same convenience of the Disney Skyliner!

Kathern, I hope you're able to find a solution that fits as perfectly as Cinderella's glass slipper and I wish you a trip full of Magical moments. If you have any additional questions, please come on back to planDisney!
