We are planning our 1st family trip (3 kids, 7--girl, 4--boy, 1--girl) to WDW this fall. I can't decide between the Little Mermaid rooms and the Royal Guest Room. Aside from cost, what would be your pick? Most convenient in terms of buses, parks, food?

    Hi Leslie,

I can understand why this is a tough decision for you! Both the Little Mermaid rooms and the Royal Guest rooms are fantastic. They are both richly themed on beautiful properties. While both resorts will have similar bus service, Port Orleans also offers a boat to Downtown Disney. Port Orleans Riverside has a table service restaurant, Boatwright's Dining Hall, in addition to their food court, Riverside Mill. It might seem like a small thing, but there are two sinks in the bathroom vanity of the Royal Guest rooms versus one in the Little Mermaid rooms.

This is a tough decision because the Little Mermaid rooms and the Art of Animation Resort have their strong points as well. While there is no table service restaurant, there are a lot of options at the quick service dining location, Landscape of Flavors. The Flippin' Fins pool, in the Little Mermaid section, is great fun, and the Big Blue Pool in the Finding Nemo section is outstanding!

Weighing these factors, I would have to give a slight edge to the Royal Guest rooms at Port Orleans Riverside. I hope I've helped make your decision a little easier! If you have any other questions, please be sure to come back to the Moms Panel.

Wishing you and your family a magical vacation!
