HI! I am planning a family trip for christmas! What time does the castle lighting ceremony start? And any tips on a great spot to view everything?? And is it true that if you get to MK before it opens the Characters ride in on the Train?? LUV WDW!!!

    Hi Amanda!

The Castle Lighting Ceremony takes place at dusk.  When I've been there for it, it generally took place around 6:45 pm.  It's definitely a must see.  The best place is obviously in the Castle Hub, but I think any place between the end of Main Street USA (Casey's Corner) and the castle will work; however, the closer you can get the better.  Generally speaking, you will need to stake out a good position at least 30 minutes before the ceremony.  It's definitely a "must see".

The Magic Kingdom does indeed offer a show before the park officially opens.  You will want to be in position, inside the turnstiles, about 15 minutes before the official opening time.  Then you can get a good spot to watch the show and the train full of characters arrive!

Enjoy planning your Magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation and write back if you have any more questions!
