Hi Pat! I just returned from a fun Disney vacation with my almost four year old grandson so I understand that age!
Since so much happens in the evenings with the parades and fireworks I strongly recommend you make sure you have quiet time or naps on days when you will be out late. My grandson loves the fireworks but never could have stayed awake if he hadn't had some sort of nap on those days.
You might consider planning a special pirate day for him as I did for my grandson. We booked a
Pirates and Pals Fireworks cruise to watch the Magic Kingdom Wishes show from the water....which is the very best way to see this event! Then I booked a Pirate makeover at the Pirate Experience in the Magic Kingdom. Your grandson will be turned into an official pirate in less then an hour. He can choose between four outfits and six faces for his special makeover. They will give him a new pirate name, some special treasures, and transform him. We arranged for the full package since we wanted to see a complete pirate!!!!
Make sure you arrange a special place for a birthday dinner. Call the cake hotline at 407-827-2253 to order a cake for the birthday boy.
Encourage but don't push attractions for him. He might meet height requirements but that doesn't necessarily mean he is ready for some of the more thrilling rides in the parks. Let him experience Goofy's Barnstormer in Toontown in the Magic Kingdom for his first roller coaster. This will give you the insight as to what he is ready for or not ready for!
Call the Disney florist, 407-827-3505, and talk to a dream maker to see options for things for your resort room to make it special for his birthday.
