Welcome to planDisney, Heather!
Oh, I’m so excited for your very first Walt Disney World adventure! I still remember my very first trip with my family, and it’s a memory I’ll treasure forever. There’s nothing like seeing your child’s eyes light up as they experience the magic for the very first time!
Heather, since you only have one day and plan to park hop, I’d definitely recommend applying for
DAS (Disability Access Service) before you arrive. Even for just one day, it can make your time in the parks so much smoother and more magical for your son, giving your family more moments to enjoy rides, shows, and surprises around every corner.
The current process for applying for this service involves a live video chat with a Cast Member. You’ll need a device with a camera and microphone, and the person requesting DAS must be 18 or older. Your son will need to be present during the chat. It’s also important to note that your park tickets should be linked to your account so that everything can be set up properly. Video chats are available from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Eastern Time. Keep in mind DAS approval is not guaranteed, and eligibility is determined by the Cast Member during the chat, but it’s a great tool to help your family have a smoother, more magical day.
A few extra tips to make your day extra magical: - Bring comfort items for your son, like a favorite toy, fidget, or blanket, to help with sensory needs
- Check out the attractions ahead of time so your family knows what to expect and can pick favorites
- Plan some downtime between rides and park hopping to rest, recharge, and soak in the magic without feeling rushed
- Use the DAS return times to sneak in a snack, a quiet stroll, or a little break. It helps everyone stay happy and energized
I know you’re going to make incredible memories, Heather! Have the most magical day ever, and don’t forget to give your son an extra warm hug from me. Olaf would totally approve!
With pixie dust and excitement,
Emille
