We are planning to enjoy the Star Wars weekend in June, and I'm looking for some advice on having my son be a part of the Jedi Training Academy. How does it work, is it just one time a day, is it done on a first come basis? Any tips would be appreciated!

    Hi Laura,

My son and I love Star Wars Weekends!  We had the opportunity to go to our first one in May of 2010 and we had a blast!  The Jedi Training Academy is great fun as well.  My son had the privilege to do it twice before he turned thirteen years old.  During Star Wars Weekends the Jedi Training Academy gets extra special because there are more shows and more villains to battle.  Over the last few years, they have changed the way they picked kids for this special interactive experience. Currently they are taking sign ups first thing in the day right by where the Jedi Training Academy stage is by Star Tours, the Adventure Continues for days that are not during Stars Wars Weekends. These sign ups are only open at the beginning of the day for all the shows for that day and there are multiple shows per day. There also is a standby line in case kids that signed up earlier that day do not show up at their scheduled show time, but those in the standby line are not guaranteed to be in a show. For Star Wars Weekends 2011, they have changed the Jedi Training Academy sign up location to right outside of the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular attraction. My advice to you is to arrive at Hollywood Studios 30 minutes before the Park is scheduled to open and when it opens, head straight to the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular attraction to sign up for that day's Jedi Training Academy.  You can pick up a Times Guide when you get to Hollywood Studios to see the scheduled show times for that day.

I hope that you and your son make many Jedi memories on your next trip to Walt Disney World!

    Keep Dreaming Big!
