Hi! We are planning an Eastern Caribbean cruise out of Port Canaveral on November 3, 2018. Since sailing last with DCL (WBTA September 2017) our youngest child has been diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome. Where can we get help planning? Thanks!

    Ahoy, Vanessa!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Your pirate crew is going to love setting sail to paradise aboard your Eastern Caribbean Cruise! I can relate to you on how impactful it can be when your child receives a new medical diagnosis. My heart is filled with happiness knowing that your entire family will have a vacation of a lifetime with Captain Mickey and his friends!

One of the many reasons why my pirate crew's favorite vacation is sailing aboard Disney Cruise Line is because of their incredible efforts to make the entire cruising experience inclusive for all Guests, no matter their abilities. My best advice is for you to give Disney Cruise Line's Special Services Team a call at (407) 566-3602. You'll be able to discuss with the agent what your youngest child's needs are, and the agent can share recommendations that can make your child's voyage as fun and safe as possible! I recommend writing down any accommodations that are helpful to you during your days at home with your child. Then, have this list ready while you speak to the Special Services team member; together, you can think of what your kiddo might need during your cruise. Requests for accommodations are never guaranteed, but it has been my personal experience that Disney goes above and beyond trying to fulfill them!

Next, if you haven't done so already, notify your child's doctors of your upcoming voyage! Also, if your child takes any medication, be sure to bring along extra during your cruise, and pack all medications in your carry-on bags. Finally, it sounds like your family already has passports since you've previously set sail on a Transatlantic Cruise; be sure to bring each family member's passport along in the unlikely event you'll need to quickly travel back home from a port of call.

I'm wishing your family an unforgettable time!
