Hi Samantha! I love how proactive you are being with your question! While there are countless school district policies and we all know things could change between now and then, I can tell you that my kiddos have both received excused absences during our vacations at Walt Disney World Resort.
For me, it was as simple as an email to our school Principal. I highlighted the many educational opportunities they would experience while on vacation.
My kiddos have learned so much while at
Epcot and Animal Kingdom. As a mom, it's such a bonus when my kiddos enjoy a magical vacation and share with me all they learned. Much of what they learned returned home with us. From our time in Epcot, my kiddos most value what they have learned about other countries and cultures. From dining in new restaurants to their desire to learn new languages and visit other countries, that is all Disney. The aquarium in The Seas with Nemo & Friends Pavilion inspired my daughter to want to learn all she can about animals (sea turtles and dolphins in particular). She hopes to return to Walt Disney World Resort one day as a Veterinarian.
Like Epcot,
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park is filled with non-stop learning opportunities in a magical setting. There is a
Wilderness Explorers program your kiddos can experience where they complete challenges and earn badges (stickers) as they make their way through Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The adventures are fun and educational for kiddos of all ages!
Thanks so much for sharing your question with the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I hope this information helps you as you work with the school in a few years. Have a magical day!
