Planning our 1st DVC trip Oct.7-13. If the site says mbrs can book for Oct in Aug do I need to wait until Aug to book? Not sure how it all works. I want to be able to book DR at our fave restaurants 180 days ahead but know you need a resv # to do so. Thank

    Hello, Michele!

Welcome Home! (You'll get used to hearing a lot of that once you begin your stays at Disney Vacation Club Resorts!)  So glad you've joined the family!

Regarding your inaugural Disney Vacation Club trip, you can actually book your stay at your home resort up to eleven months in advance of check-in.  For an October 7th, 2013 check-in at your home resort, this means that you can book your stay on August 7th.  For stays in DVC properties that are not your home resort, the booking window opens at seven months prior to check-in.  Just to be sure, though, I like to call Member Services at 1-800-800-9800, to confirm that I've calculated everything correctly.

Once you've done that, you should have no problem booking all of your first choice dining reservations at the 180 days-to-check-in date.  As a matter of fact, I did that very thing just now for a stay this July (I'm even uncharacteristically late by a week!) and had many reservation options available for my party of ten.  Just be sure to map out which park you'd like to be in (or at your resort) based on the park's hours (just check calendars for each park on disneyworld.com.)  This will enable you to take advantage of Extra Magic Hours, should you wish to linger a little longer in the magic, after dining.

If, however, you are referring to October 7th of THIS year, then by all means book now.  The sooner you book your villa, the more likely you'll get your first choice of accommodations.

Enjoy your first stay in your home-away-from home!  If you have any additional questions about your resort, your membership or your stay, please send them my way.  I love to help!
