We are planning on driving into the parks and hitting Animal Kingdom first (so we'd park there), then ride a bus to another park, say EPCOT for the afternoon/evening. Will we have trouble catching a bus back to AK to our car after 9pm when EPCOT closes?

Hi Tracie! I can appreciate you wanting to not use your day trying to drive from park to park as it is stressful and takes extra time.

You would definitely have an issue trying to return to the Animal Kingdom park after your evening at Epcot. Buses run to and from the parks for about an hour and a half after closing and the Animal Kingdom park is the earliest park to close of all four on a routine basis. If it closes at 5pm then buses will stop running about 6:30pm. If the park closes at 7pm buses likely stop around 8:30pm.

I would suggest you consider visiting the park and then drive over to Epcot where you can enjoy the attractions and entertainment as late as you wish without worrying about transportation. The drive is only about a 15 time and you will be guided to the best parking available when you arrive.  Trams can carry you up to the entrance.
