Hi Aaron!
I'm so happy to hear you're planning a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation with your grandchildren! Walt Disney World is a vacation destination that appeals to all ages - the young and the young-at-heart! You and your family will be making memories to last a lifetime at The Most Magical Place on Earth.
The
Disney Park Pass reservation system was put in place during Walt Disney World's
phased reopening to help manage park attendance and capacity. Guests visiting Walt Disney World's four theme parks currently need a valid
Theme Park Ticket and a Disney Park Pass reservation for a specific theme park on a specific date to gain admission. When you select the usage dates for your Theme Park Tickets, you'll want to first check
Theme Park Availability for the parks you'd like to visit on those dates. Once you purchase your tickets, it's important you reserve your Disney Park Pass reservations soon after.
With a theme park ticket with the
Park Hopper Option, Guests have the ability to "hop" to more than one theme park on the same day - even all four parks if you choose to be adventurous! I always recommend Park Hopper tickets to maximize your days and maximize your FUN. During Walt Disney World's phased reopening, there are a few guidelines Guests will need to follow when using the Park Hopper Option:
- Guests will need to have a Disney Park Pass reservation to enter the first park they'd like to visit.
- The Guest must physically enter that park by scanning a MagicBand, Theme Park Ticket, or using Disney's MagicMobile service at the point of entry, before hopping to a second (or third, or fourth!) theme park after 2 pm.
- You will NOT need a Disney Park Pass reservation to visit an additional park on the same date.
- The ability to "hop" to another park is subject to that park's capacity limitations. If any park were to reach capacity and not allow park hopping, you would receive an alert through the My Disney Experience mobile app on your smartphone. (I've visited several times since Park Hopping was reinstated, and so far have had no issues when hopping to a second park.)
I hope this helps explain how the Disney Park Pass reservation system and Park Hopper tickets work together! If you have more questions before your visit, please come back and visit us here at planDisney.
