Hello, we're planning our DL vacation for the last week of January, we will be there for my son's 5th birthday. Anything special he can partake on his birthday while we are there? Also it will be my husband's first time EVER to DL, so rare for living in CA

    Hi, Emily!

There’s no better place to celebrate your son’s special day than The Happiest Place on Earth! I’m also glad to hear your husband will be visiting for the first time. It will be a special vacation for all of you!

There are many ways to make your birthday boy’s day extra memorable. Be sure to pick up a complimentary birthday button for him at City Hall on Main Street, U.S.A. on your way into Disneyland Park. It can even be customized with his name so he will receive personalized birthday wishes from Cast Members throughout your visit! You can also request a button to celebrate your husband’s inaugural visit.

My favorite table-service dining location for celebrating special occasions is Blue Bayou at Disneyland Park. The restaurant is located right inside the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, so you can request a table near the water and wave to Guests floating by in boats headed to the pirate-filled waters below! Don’t forget to mention you’re celebrating a birthday when making reservations because you may get sprinkled with a little extra pixie dust during the meal. Another special treat is to order one of the Disneyland Resort’s personal-size party cakes. I bet your son would love the Disney Pirate Treasure Chest option that comes filled with cake, a lit candle and special surprise. They are $15 each and can be ordered in advance by calling (714) 781-DINE (3463) or in person during your meal.

Check out the Disneyland Resort website in advance so you can make a list of “must-do” attractions and shows. Most importantly, having a plan makes for smoother days in the parks, especially with little ones in tow. I hope this helps, Emily. Please feel free to ask more questions as you continue to plan your pixie-dusted vacation to the Disneyland Resort!

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
