We're planning our 1st DL trip-2013 and torn about hotels (DLH vs. GC). We visit DW yearly and stay at deluxe Boardwalk area resorts. Resort time is VERY important to us, we LOVE the comfy beds, heavily themed pools (daughter is 7) etc., any suggestions?

Wow, what a great question. Both of the hotels at the Disneyland Resort will provide you and your family with some magical experiences and quality service. The Disneyland Hotel has recently undergone a lavish redecoration from top to bottom and gleams like a polished gem. From the guest rooms which feature intricately carved wooden headboards that come to life with the magical Disney “Good Night Kiss,” to the Monorail themed pool and water play areas this hotel is a great for families to enjoy those classic Disney family moments while enjoying all the modern amenities.

Over at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa you will all be impressed by the amazing American Craftsman style and elegance this resort provides. My kids love spending time in the huge lobby watching old Disney classic cartoons or sitting by fire in the kids sized rocking chairs, while my wife and I enjoy a cocktail and listen to the piano player bring to life a some of our favorite Disney and Pixar movie music from Pinocchio to Monsters, Inc. In addition, the Grand has a great spa, impeccable Disney service, and most importantly, with your valid park admission, all guests can take advantage of a convenient entrance to Disney California Adventure Park which is so perfect for when you need to get back to the room real quick.

While both hotels are simply stunning, my family always opts for Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa because it is just so close to everything which is a huge time saver.
