Hello. We are planning our Disneyland trip and wanting to dine at Trader Sams. I discovered that the day we can do that, there is a mixology seminar happening with the last time at 4:00. Will the restaurant be open to all once the seminars are done?

    Hi Lindsey,

Thank you so much for coming to planDisney with your question. Trader Sam’s is always a popular dining venue to get into. I’ve been lucky enough to dine on the patio, but I’ve yet to dine inside the Enchanted Tiki Bar. I had heard of mixology classes taking place during the Food & Wine Festival,  but I had no idea that Trader Sam’s offered mixology classes. I was happy to do a deep dive to help you with your question.

Trader Sam’s offers a few mixology classes a year, where guests learn to make two beverages—one alcoholic and one nonalcoholic—from a Trader Sam’s bartender. The mixology class includes a fireside reception with one cocktail, hors d’oeuvres, and live entertainment. Guests even get to go home with a special mug not yet released to the public. This is definitely going on my Disneyland bucket list!

You will most likely see a shift in the operating hours for Trader Sam’s on the day of a class. There may be some impact on breakfast hours as the bar prepares for the mixology event. The bar will likely be closed for some, if not all, of lunch service as it starts hosting classes at 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 4:00 PM. The class is 45 minutes long, so it’s not likely to reopen until after 5:00 PM. I recommend checking the Disneyland app that morning to see the exact operating hours for Trader Sam’s that day.

If you’re looking to make a dining reservation, unfortunately, those are currently booked. While it may seem like the ship has sailed—don’t worry, I have some advice! Keep checking the Disneyland app, especially during the week of your trip. Guests often change their plans, and you just might snag a spot when they do. I also recommend swinging by Trader Sam’s right when it opens at 11:00 AM. Sometimes, there are day-of reservations available. You can also try joining the Walk-Up List through the Disneyland app. When the bar reopens in the evening, just search for Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar—when the listing appears, you’ll see the option to “Join Walk-Up List.” Be sure to enable your phone’s location settings to ensure this feature works.

I hope this information is helpful for planning your day, Lindsey! If you have any more questions or want extra tips for future trips, feel free to reach out to me or any of my fellow planDisney panelists. We’re always here to add a little extra sparkle to your planning.

    Cheers!
