We are planning on going to Disneyland in March with a 3 year old who has autism and a young adult with Down’s syndrome. What is the difference between a fast pass and a DAS pass? What is best for us.

    Hi there, Roberta!

I am so glad you stopped by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I’m happy to tell you there are many services and strategies available at the Disneyland Resort to help Guests with disabilities maximize their time in the theme parks and have a magical experience with their families!

The Disability Access Service (DAS) system is designed to accommodate Guests who aren’t able to wait in a conventional queue due to a disability (including autism and cognitive disabilities) by allowing them to receive a return time for attractions based on the current wait time. As soon as the Guest (and his or her group) finishes one attraction, they can receive a return time for another. If this sounds like something that could benefit your family, visit City Hall in Disneyland Park or the Chamber of Commerce in Disney California Adventure Park to speak to a Cast Member in person about your specific needs.

Along with the DAS system, you are also welcome to use Disney FASTPASS to further maximize your time in the parks. To obtain a FASTPASS, visit the distribution area (generally located near the attraction entrance) for each attraction offering this service. Insert your valid admission ticket into the FASTPASS machine to obtain a return time. For attractions, the return time will be a one-hour window, but for shows, you will receive a return time for a specific performance. Not all attractions offer FASTPASS service, but a list of those that do is available online and in the park guide maps you can pick up upon arrival at the resort.

I hope this information helps you, Roberta. Please feel free to ask me any other questions you may have as your pixie-dusted planning continues!

    Wishing you magic,
