we are planning a Disney vacation in September, I am told that there are alot of hurricanes/bad weather , is this a bad time to come to Disney?

Hi, Georgina!  September is still hurricane season, but I would not say you have to worry about "a lot" of hurricanes or bad weather.

Hurricane season is tough to predict, but even if the forecasters are predicting a heavy season in the tropics, the number of hurricanes that are ever forecast to hit this part of Florida is usually very low.  When you consider the length of the season is just over four months, you are not likely to run into difficulty due to hurricane in the Central Florida area.  You will have the occasional odd year - like a few years ago when the area around Orlando was hit by three storms in a very short period of time - but those are the exception rather than the rule.

During the early to middle part of September, you may encounter a daily afternoon thunder shower.  These showers are very typical all summer long, but they are usually fast moving and brief.  You may find yourself in a downpour for ten or fifteen minutes - just enough time to do a little souvenir shopping - and then the rain will be gone.

I would not worry about planning a September vacation due to weather.  An average day will be your typical Central Florida summer day, with lots of sunshine, high temperatures, high humidity, and just that quick afternoon passing shower.
