We are planning a disney vacation for our family of nine. I'm not really sure how to go about doing this myself. Do I need a travel agent to arrange our trip? What would be the the most economical way to visit WDW?

You certainly don't need the assistance of a travel agent; you can handle this!  I've planned multiple Grand Gathering trips for parties of ten and more that include family members who range in age from just 1 year all the way up to 69.  If you put some thought and effort into it you can make all the plans for a memorable trip for your large family!

You'll want to start by choosing your dates.  If you're looking to be fiscally conservative I'd recommend visiting during value season.  This calendar can be very helpful in narrowing down the choices of great times to visit.  Next you'll want to decide where to stay.  There are a lot of perks for guests who stay on Walt Disney World property and there are a number of options for those looking to get the most bang for their buck.  Reserving multiple rooms at one of Disney's value resorts may be the most economical way for your large party to stay on property.  The All-Star Music Resort also has family suites available.  Family suites can each sleep up to six people plus one child under the age of three in a crib.

Other ways to save money during your vacation:
    - don't rent a car; rely on Disney's Magical Express for airport transfers and use Disney transportation to make your way around the resort
    - eat breakfast in your room
    - purchase base tickets; you don't need the park hopping option
    - just choose one or two "splurge" meals and dine at counter service locations the remainder of the time

I'm confident that you can plan a magical vacation for your family!  You know where to turn if you need advice from a panel of expert mom planners!   :)

I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists.
