I am planning my disney vacation for April 09 and considering staying at the cabins in Ft Wilderness. They have full kitchens and I wanted to purchase food from a local supermarket. How far are they and which is the best to get to. I will not have a car.

    Hi Marisol,

I actually think that Fort Wilderness Campground is the one place on Walt Disney World property that has a quite extensive grocery store/Trading Post (actually 2 of them) which have pretty good selections of main grocery food items you would need for your cabin at Fort Wilderness.  It may be a little more costly, but being a campground the Trading Post does offer food items that would be good for a camper (such as foods for use with the barbecue as well as frozen foods that can be warmed in the microwave or oven).  If you would like a bigger selection, then the grocery stores in Lake Buena Vista (such as Goodings or Winn Dixie) would be your next best option and your closest which you could get to by a taxi and it shouldn't cost too much.  Goodings is closer than Winn Dixie, but it is also quite a bit more expensive than Winn Dixie. Another option that is open to you would be to order online from a grocery store that will deliver your groceries to your resort and for more information on this topic including phone numbers, visit this link to another similar answer given on this subject!  Good luck and have a great time camping in the cabins.

    Best wishes,
