I am planning a Disney cruise for my son's 5th birthday. Are character dining experiences available on all cruises? What special options are available for childrens birthday? Does it vary by ship and/or destination? Thank you!

    Hi Melissa,

I'm so excited for your little boy!  He's going to have a spectacular birthday celebration.  A Character Breakfast is only available on most 7-night cruises, but there are many opportunities to meet Characters on all cruises.  Some character greetings are scheduled, and a lot are surprise appearances (especially in the kids clubs).  You can check out your Personal Navigator each evening to find all of the times and locations of the Character experiences for the following day.

For an extra special celebration please call Disney Cruise Line before you sail and have them note the birthday on your reservation.   Your Head Server will take care of the rest.  Don't be surprised when a personal size cake or special dessert shows up and Servers break out in song...they take celebrations very seriously!  If you want a larger cake for the entire group, please let your Server know or you can order a Stateroom Celebration.  You're son can actually find that Mickey stopped by to decorate your stateroom for his special day.

I hope this helps.  I'm wishing you a very magical sailing and the happiest of birthdays for your little prince.  Bon voyage!
