We are planning a Disney Cruise. When and how do I add on an alcohol package? Also, how do I find out the cost?

    Ahoy Elizabeth,

Thanks for coming to planDisney with your Disney Cruise Line question! I am happy to help you think about beverage packages on your sailing.

I do enjoy a fancy cocktail while onboard a Disney sailing. There is nothing quite like sipping a tropical beverage while watching the ocean go by from a lounge chair on deck. While there is not an overall alcohol package available on Disney Cruise Line sailings, you can add beer or wine packages. These vary in price depending on what they are. You can add these on once you are onboard, or you can pre-purchase them at Disney Cruise Line Onboard Gifts.

Also, please know that guests 21 years of age and older are able to carry on up to two bottles of wine or champagne or six beers when you board the ship. You must carry these on - they cannot be in your checked baggage.

Another interesting way to experience adult beverages onboard a Disney sailing is to sign up for a beverage tasting. These are offered throughout your sailing, and a Disney expert will guide you through a tasting of the spirit or drink that is focused on in your tasting. These sometimes focus on a particular spirit, such as bourbon, or on a particular cocktail, such as a martini. My husband and I did the Chocolate and Liquor tasting on a sailing recently, and that was really fun - not only alcohol, but some delicious chocolate as well! You can book these beverage tasting experiences before your cruise. They are listed as "Onboard Fun" when you go to add items to your itinerary. You can also book them once you are onboard; however, they do tend to book up so I recommend booking them before you leave if you know that you will want to do one. These do have an additional nominal cost associated.

I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, Elizabeth. Please do feel free to sail back to planDisney with any further questions!
