Hello. WE are planning to come Dec 7-12 and wonder for my husband with parkinsons can we get a disability scooter/pass? how does that work?

    Hiya Julie!

Welcome to planDisney, and thank you for including us in your planning process! One of my favourite things about the Disney parks is that so many services are available to ensure everyone can join in on the Disney magic, no matter their needs. Indeed, disability services include a variety of available rentals, documents and services that can help make your vacation more magical.

The Disability Access Service (known as DAS) is for Guests who cannot remain in traditional line environments for reasons other than mobility issues. If you are unsure if your husband qualifies for this service, I highly recommend scheduling a video call with a DAS Cast Member! Indeed, they will be able to tell you precisely if your husband qualifies and discuss other available services for him.

Wheelchair and ECV rentals are different from this service, however, in the way that you can simply rent these devices as long as they are available. They are not transferrable between theme parks or locations, so you can drop them off at the rental location when exiting the theme park. If you believe an ECV may be beneficial throughout your trip, you can also rent one through Disney's Featured Provider: ScooterBug. This option is especially great if you are planning on staying at a Disney Resort hotel, as ScooterBug offers length-of-stay rentals, whereas Disney does not.

At the end of the day, however, I always encourage Guests to make the decision that will allow them to have the best experience possible. We often get asked if parents should rent strollers for older kids, or if parties should rent wheelchairs or ECVs for another member, and I think whatever can make your vacation more comfortable is the way to go!

I hope this was helpful, Julie, and that you and your husband will have the most magical vacation on your next trip to the Walt Disney World Resort. If you have any other questions in the time leading up to your trip, please don't hesitate to reach back out. It is always an honour to help you plan such unique and memorable vacations!

    Have a magical day,
