Hello, We are planning a Dec trip with our 3 boys and trying to decide on where to stay. We want to try something different, thinking Polynesian or Wilderness Lodge. Any info or opinions about rooms, dining, trans, rooms with views, etc. greatly appreciated!!

    Hi Christine,

While Disney's Wilderness Lodge is my favorite resort on the planet (particularly during the holiday season when it is all dressed up for Christmas), the standard rooms there only accommodate four guests. If you are traveling with a group of five (you, your spouse, and your three boys), then I would book a room at Disney's Polynesian Resort.  As this is one of the two original resorts built for the opening of Walt Disney World forty years ago, the floor plan of these rooms is huge.  I stayed there in January and was amazed at the space in these rooms.  They comfortably accommodate five.  Plus, this resort is situated on the monorail so it is incredibly easy to get to the Magic Kingdom by boat or monorail.  The monorail to Epcot also borders this resort so getting there will be a snap too.

If your boys are anything like my son, they're going to love the Nanea Volcano Pool at the Polynesian.  It has an incredible pool slide.  Finally, the beach at Disney's Polynesian Resort is an excellent venue from which you can watch the fireworks above Cinderella Castle.

Overall, it sounds like the Polynesian would be a magical place for your family to stay during your next Walt Disney World vacation.  Be sure to request a room close to the Great Ceremonial House as this will save you many steps during the course of your trip.

Have fun and let us know if you have any additional questions as you plan.
